Cookie Policy
What cookies and similar technologies this website uses, and how you control them.

What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. "Similar technologies" include browser storage (such as localStorage) and comparable methods. They can be strictly necessary to operate a site, functional (remembering a choice you made), or optional — for example analytics, advertising or marketing. This site uses only strictly-functional storage and, if you choose, optional analytics. It uses no advertising or marketing technologies.
Essential and functional storage
When you make a choice in our cookie banner, we store a small first-party record of that choice so we do not ask you again and so we can honour it on future visits. This record is functional, contains no tracking identifiers, is never shared, and involves no third party.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
idre_consent | Remembers your analytics choice (accepted or rejected) | First-party, functional | About 6 months |
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics)
Analytics is off until you accept it. If you accept analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 — a service provided by Google (Google Ireland Limited) — to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it. It is configured for measurement only: no advertising, no remarketing, no ad-personalisation and no Google Signals. We do not send Google any information that directly identifies you — your name, email, phone number, message and any calculator figures are never passed to Google. When you accept, Google Analytics sets the following first-party cookies:
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes browsers/devices to count visits and sessions | First-party (Google Analytics) | Up to 2 years |
_ga_<stream> | Maintains analytics session state for this property | First-party (Google Analytics) | Up to 2 years |
If you reject analytics, none of these cookies are set and no analytics data is sent to Google. We use Google Consent Mode so that this preference is applied before any analytics tag runs. Google acts as our processor for this analytics data under its data-processing terms; you can read Google's own explanation of how it uses data via its privacy & terms.
Your cookie choices
When you first visit, a banner lets you Accept analytics, Reject non-essential, or Manage your choice. Nothing optional runs until you choose, rejecting is as easy as accepting, and nothing is pre-ticked. You can change your choice at any time by selecting "Cookie preferences" in the site footer, which reopens the banner. Essential and functional storage above is always active because the site needs it to work and to remember your choice; it is not used for tracking.
Newsletter preference
This website does not currently offer newsletter sign-up or email marketing, so no newsletter-related preference is stored in your browser. If a newsletter is reintroduced in future, we will describe any storage it uses here first.
Cookies for signed-in administrators
If you are a signed-in administrator of this website, WordPress sets a small number of functional cookies (for example to keep you logged in and remember admin screen preferences). These are never set for ordinary visitors and are not used for tracking or marketing.
Third-party technologies
The only third-party technology this site uses is Google Analytics, described above, and only if you accept analytics. This site loads no advertising or remarketing technologies, no tracking pixels, no social-media embeds, no maps, no A/B testing and no third-party fonts.
Browser controls
You remain in full control of cookies and site data through your browser settings, where you can view, manage or delete anything stored by any website you visit, including this one. Clearing this site's storage will also clear your saved cookie choice, so the banner will ask again on your next visit.
If this changes in future
If we ever introduce another optional technology, we will describe it here with its provider and purpose, and — where the rules require it — we will ask for your consent before it runs, and give you a way to change that choice.
